Crossover Suzuki Vitara debuted in Europe in September 2014 as part of the Paris Motor Show. The model is built on the platform SX4 latest generation, but 125mm shorter and 20mm taller. Overall length, width and height of new items are 4175, 1775 and 1610 mm, respectively. The wheelbase is 2500 mm and the ground clearance is 185 mm. Thus, the Japanese off-road vehicle is closer to Ford Ecosport with its 2,519 mm, and in terms of ground clearance - to Nissan Juke with 180 mm, but at the same time surpasses them in terms of trunk volume (375 liters versus 333 liters for Ecosport and 251 liters for Dzhuk).
To us Vitara comes with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 117 hp. and a maximum torque of 156 Nm (at 4,400 rpm). This unit is combined with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The crossover in the S version is equipped with a 1.4-liter BoosterJet turbo engine, which develops 140 hp. and 220 Nm, as well as a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The basic version of the Vitara is front-wheel drive, however, in more expensive trim levels, the model is offered, including all-wheel drive with proprietary AllGrip 4WD technology. The system allows you to choose from four modes corresponding to different types of road surface.
For the novelty, a personalization program is offered - you can choose the headlight trim, radiator grille, door sills, front panel color and other exterior and interior elements. In addition, a panoramic roof with a length of 560 mm is available as an option, as well as a multimedia system with a 7-inch touch screen. In total, there are three trim levels, as well as separate urban and off-road versions of Urban and Outdoor, respectively.
From a technical point of view, the Suzuki Vitara is identical to the SX4: the same 1.6 petrol engine with 117 hp. and the same five-speed manual transmission. In the basic version, the GL Vitara has a stabilization system, ABS, a descent assistance system, seven airbags (including for the driver's knees), air conditioning, heated front seats, an audio system with steering wheel controls, electric front door windows and heated mirrors, an onboard computer. The base SX4 is slightly more expensive, and in addition to all of the above notable options, it has cruise control and power rear windows.
The all-wheel drive Vitara with an “automatic” is a second slower in acceleration (13.0 s) and a little more voracious (6.3 l / 100 on average), which is due to the curb weight increased to 1185 kg (the base Vitara “weighs” only 1075 kg) . At the same time, the all-wheel drive SX4 is even slower: 13.5 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed of 165 km/h, with an average consumption of 6.2 l/100 km. Another thing is that an all-wheel drive Vitara with “mechanics” will cost at least UAH 470,000, and an SX4 with the All Grip system, as the proprietary all-wheel drive system with an electromagnetic clutch in the rear wheel drive is called, will cost as much as UAH 49,100 cheaper. But Vitara makes up for this difference with such equipment as - bend your fingers - climate control, fog lights, alloy wheels 215/60 R16, a multimedia system with a 7-inch touch screen and a rear-view camera (though without navigation), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, painted in body color with handles and mirror housings, tinted windows.
Production Suzuki Vitara started in March 2015 at the company's Hungarian plant.
